REMEMBER AND HONOR THOSE WHO SERVED OUR COUNTRY

As we approach Memorial Day weekend, please take a moment to pause, remember and honor all who have served and given their lives defending our freedom and our democracy. It seems even more important today as we witness global challenges to democratic principles that we not take for granted our rights to choose our own leaders. While we can never repay the loss to our fallen heroes and their loved ones, each of us can honor their sacrifice by participating in our upcoming Primary Election on June 7. Please find more information on the upcoming election below. I also encourage you to attend the Flag Retirement Ceremony hosted by the Tahoe City Boy Scout Troop 266 on Monday, May 30, at 5pm at the Trails End Cemetery in Tahoe City.

In addition, Memorial Day weekend marks the traditional beginning of summer activities at Lake Tahoe. It’s during this time of year that I am reminded how lucky we are to be able to live, work, and recreate in such an amazing place – not only offering so many outdoor activities but also a community filled with a variety of incredible local businesses. So with all of this beautiful weather in the forecast, I remind you to please recreate safely, respectfully, and responsibly now…and throughout the summer ahead!

In service,
Supervisor Cindy Gustafson
