CELEBRATE EARTH DAY WITH SNOW!
What an “Amazing April” it has already been, especially with the recent storm bringing over a foot of snow to our region. While it’s rare to see this much snowfall in April, it is extremely welcomed in helping with our significant snowpack deficit and all this moisture will provide additional relief from our historic drought conditions. Join me in celebrating “Earth Day 2022 – Invest in our Planet” on April 22 by enjoying all the amazing outdoor places and activities Placer County has to offer.
Looking ahead, there are many important public projects and programs coming to our Eastern Placer County region this summer, as well as a number of private projects in various stages of review and development. We want our residents to be engaged and informed, and that’s why I’m hoping you’ll join myself and county staff on Monday, May 9 at 5:30pm for an in-person Eastern Placer Town Hall Meeting, details below. The meeting will have some brief presentations, but also have stations so that you can focus on the projects of most interest to you. We will provide a hybrid format for the presentation portion of the meeting but more detailed information will be presented at the stations around the room.

BRIDGET POWERS JOINS PLACER COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION SERVING AREAS EAST OF THE SIERRA CREST
The Placer County Board of Supervisors approved the appointment of Bridget Powers to the Placer County Planning Commission, serving in the at-large seat representing areas east of the Sierra Crest. The talented pool of candidates was nothing short of amazing, but Bridget’s specific experience in both Eastern and Western Placer County put her over the top. She has worked on complex land issues, was a longtime company representative in Eastern Placer County, and is a second home-owner in Olympic Valley. Bridget will bring exceptional insight that will help her balance community interests and development. LEARN MORE
MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN OUR COMMUNITY – JOIN THE NEW NORTH LAKE TAHOE RESORT ASSOCIATION TOT COMMITTEE
The NLTRA recently transitioned from being funded by Transient Occupancy Tax dollars (TOT), to being funded by a self-assessed Tourism Business Improvement District (TBID). The TOT funds that previously funded the NLTRA have been freed up to be redistributed back into the community through housing and transportation-oriented projects recommended by the TOT committee. The TOT committee will focus on identifying affordable housing, transportation and infrastructure programs and projects in eastern Placer County. This committee will include representation, and seek appointments from, transportation and workforce housing organizations, as well as representatives with expertise in transportation and workforce housing, and those who are advocates for transportation and workforce housing. PLACER COUNTY ACCEPTING ‘ROUND-TWO’ MICROBUSINESS GRANT APPLICATIONS
Placer County is launching the second round of grant funding for microbusiness owners who may have missed their opportunity for a $2,500 grant in the first round. New applications for the Placer Micro Biz Program will be accepted starting April 25 through June 10. LEARN MORE
PLACER APPROVES NEW NORTH LAKE TAHOE ROUNDABOUT
A plan for a new roundabout and other road improvements at the intersection of state routes 28 and 267 in Kings Beach moved forward this week. This project is intended to reduce traffic congestion and improve safety. LEARN MORE

CAL FIRE: RESIDENTIAL BURN PERMITS NOW REQUIRED
As of effective 8am on April 18, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection Nevada-Yuba-Placer Unit require burn permits for residential burning within Placer County. LEARN MORE

FREE MEDICATION TAKE-BACK ACROSS PLACER COUNTY APRIL 30
A free medication take-back event will take place at locations across Placer County on Saturday, April 30 from 10am-2pm. They will accept prescription and over-the-counter drugs, controlled substances and veterinary medications. LEARN MORE
